Our Redeemer Lutheran Church came into being as a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church on June 24, 1951 when a call was accepted by Rev. O. R. Kleppe of Bremerton, Washington to serve the people in the River Road-Santa Clara area just north of Eugene. A parsonage was purchased in June of 1951, Sunday School was organized July 1, and Vacation Bible School began July 9.
